We understand how critical it is to advance our skill-sets and broaden the knowledge of the trade that we belong. In that spirit we offer the following classes to our members at no additional cost.

Journeyman Continuing Education:

   COLOR MIXING AND MATCHING
LENGTH OF CLASS: Two weekday evenings for 3 weeks.
This course covers color theory, tinting colors, and mixing paints, stains, and wall glazes.

   BLUEPRINTS                                                                                                               LENGTH OF CLASS: Two weekday evenings for 3 weeks.
This course covers basic blueprint reading with an emphasis on the portions of the prints and schedules that our trade must be familiar with to run a painting or drywall finishing project.

   WOODGRAINING
LENGTH OF CLASS: Two weekday evenings for 4 weeks.
This course covers an in-depth study of many woodgraining techniques. Many of the students in this class take this course every year but it is geared to any student at any level. It is suggested that you take the Color Mixing and Matching course first if you color skills need brushing up.

   SPRAY EQUIPMENT AND TECHNIQUES
LENGTH OF CLASS: Two weekday evenings for 4 weeks.
This course studies the various types of spray equipment such as cup gun to electrostatic, airless and texture rigs including how to set them up, the common problems and solutions, and the spray techniques of each type.

   MARBLEIZING
LENGTH OF CLASS: Two weekday evenings for 2 weeks
Learn to imitate many different varieties of marble on any paintable surface. This can be an add-on to the Woodgraining course or a stand-alone.

   DRYWALL FINISHING                                                                                                 LENGTH OF CLASS: Two weekday evenings for 3 weeks
The course is geared to painters who want to finish drywall. You will learn the basics of hand taping and finishing. Patching holes and skimming over rough surfaces or damaged drywall will also be covered. The course length may be extended if the students want to continue more study.

   WALLPAPER AND VINYL WALL COVERINGS                                                           LENGTH OF CLASS: Two weekday evenings for 3 weeks
All types of wall-coverings are covered but the emphasis is on the 54” vinyls. Learn about the adhesives, wall prep, estimating material, and hands-on applications. The course utilizes paste machines and roller application of adhesives.

   ZOLATONE / MULTICOLOR APPLICATION                                                                       The class covers proper application of traditional “dots and spots” materials and also the new products that are sprayed much differently. Common problems and solutions are discussed and you may address any difficulties you may have encountered.
